My project is focusing on the tidal influence. Because our site is next to the providence river, which is a tidal river. And in my first assignment, I mapped the ducks’ movement on the river. And I noticed that their daily actives are influenced by the river tidal change. So I started to think about the tidal influence on bigger scale. First of all, it’s the influence on human, in my GIS data, I chose the hazard buildings which would be submerged by sea tides in 10 feet sea level rise. And you can see the land use would be changed in the future along the coast. Secondly, the tides could also erode the landform, I used wax to do the base landform, then I add color into resin and let it go up and down on the wax basement, like a real tide. And you can see some of the color was leftover on the surface, that indicates the area would be eroded by tides. Also, the Heightfield from rhino helped me see the different tidal erosion possibilities in 3D.

To deal with the different types of tidal influence, I tried to understand the strategies in different scale. With the 1 foot contour line, you can see in the biggest scale, the landform has more opportunities to coperate with the tides. So in this scale, I proposed a wetland strategy to respond to daily tidal change. From the perspective section drawing, I try to show the layout of vegetation on the different level of hills. From the plan, I’m also trying to show the vegetation layout corresponding to the landform. And you can see the daily tidal change from the gif.  And to collect all the ideas, my atlas could be folded to show the different scale maps.
